Key Pursuits Overview

> Your Key Cluster = Your Team, including your Key Mentor(s)

Throughout the month, there are tasks you can complete and submit in order to gain points for your team. There are 2 kinds of tasks; “Pursuit Points”  and “Weekly Tasks” (review the Weekly Schedule section for more details).

  1. “Pursuit Points”: These tasks can be completed and submitted multiple times throughout the whole month. This includes:
    1. “Pursuit Points” (review the Weekly Schedule section for more details)
    2. The CSU Resources Scavenger Hunt
  2. “Weekly Tasks”: These tasks are week-specific. Each week, there are specific tasks, events or activities that can be individually completed and submitted in order to gain points for your team. These tasks can only be completed and submitted once. This includes:
      1. Week 1 Tasks
      2. Week 2 Tasks
      3. Week 3: Key Plus Event
      4. Week 4: OFF
      5. Week 5: Championship Week
  • The competition will run from November 2nd to December 4th
  • At the end of each week, points will be totaled up and you can check your Cluster’s standings every Monday on our Instagram Account: @keycommunities_csu

Top Prizes:

  • First Place: An Engraved Championship Belt, Key Water Bottles and a Food Coupon/Gift Certificate for all cluster members! 
  • Second Place: RamCash (amount still being decided) for each Cluster Member & Mentor, and Key Mason Jars
  • Third Place: Discounted Coupons to a local eatery and Key Pop Sockets

Other Awards:

  • The Presence Award: Key Mason Jars & Lanyards
  • The Spirit Award: Key Mason Jars & Lanyards
  • Top Clusters in Each Community: Key Pop Sockets & Lanyards
  • Top MVPs in Each Cluster: RamCash for each student who earns the most points for their cluster (amount of RamCash still being decided)
  1. Each week, click on the Weekly Schedule banners below and complete the tasks.
  2. When you have completed a task, you will need to document it. Proof will typically be documented as a photo, which you will need to upload during the submission process.
  3. Tasks can be completed individually or in teams, but you will need to go through the submission process individually. Which includes:
    1. Filling out your information – including your CSU ID
    2. Checking all required multiple choice questions
    3. Uploading your photo/documentation
    4. Clicking “Submit”
  4. Once you’ve completed a task and have documented it, scroll down on this page, and click “Submit Points” at the bottom of this page. Follow the instructions.
  1. The only way points are officially counted are if they are submitted correctly through the submission process before the given deadline. This means:
    1. You fill-in/answer/select all required boxes with correct information
    2. Submit photo/documentation that proves you’ve completed/fulfilled the task
    3. Click Submit.
  2. If the submission process is incomplete, the points will not count. This includes:
    1. Not filling-out/answering/selecting all required boxes
    2. Not filling-out/answering/selecting all required boxes correctly
    3. Not uploading documentation (photo, proof)
    4. The documentation uploaded does not fulfill the requirements of the task
    5. The submission is past the given deadline
    6. If you forget to click Submit/save

Weekly Schedule

REMINDER: You can submit multiple times for Pursuit Points and the Scavenger Hunt throughout the competition (Nov. 2nd – Dec. 4th)

“Pursuit Points” tasks (2 points each)

The below points are based on your attendance, which will be tracked by your Mentor

  1. Attending Seminar every day (including College and You for Key Academic – Interdisciplinary students)
  2. Attending Study Hours
  3. Attending a Cluster event hosted by your Key Mentor

“Pursuit Points” tasks (5 points each)          

Below are your 8 options and proof must be provided in the form of a picture, screenshot, email, or what you learned.

  1. Meet with the Career Center – Resume/Cover Letter work
  2. Meet with a SLiCE Involvement Coach
  3. Meet with your Academic Advisor – Getting Spring Semester Planned Out
  4. Meet with a TiLT Tutor
  5. Form a Study Group
  6. Attend a Key Note Speaker or CSU Event
  7. Attending and participate in a RAMSread Activity
  8. Self-Care/Exercise – Daily Push-ups/Sit-ups/Squats Challenge

Complete a part of the Scavenger Hunt (up to 6 points each)       

  1. Stop by one of the following offices, learn more about them and answer two questions (4 points).
  2. Answer a third bonus question for 2 more points!
  3. Student Disability Center, Chemistry Learning Resource Center (CLeRC), Writing Center, Case Management, Health Center, Student Resolution Center, RamLink, SDPS Offices, Career Center, Calculus Center, Office of Financial Aid, Student Legal Services in the LSC, Academic Advancement Center (AAC), RAMS Against Hunger, Library, Education Abroad, Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL), Recreation Center, etc.

For Students

  1. Post a picture that represents me (2 points)           
    1. Just submit a photo that reps you!
  2. Join your cluster in cheering on your Mentor(s) as they complete their tasks! 

Key Mentors ONLY

  1. Complete one of these challenges: Fort Building, Michelin Star, Mad Hatter, Dress to Impress/Fit Friday (5 points per challenge)
    1. Fort-Building Challenge – Build an epic fort in your room, if it is a lazy attempt, we will not count the points!
    2. Michelin Star Challenge – take food from somewhere on campus, or common take-out, and transform it and plate it to look like a Michelin Star Restaurant caliber dish – make sure to add a fancy caption.
    3. Mad Hatter Challenge – with the collection of takeaway boxes you get from a dining hall, craft the craziest hat you can!
    4. Dress to Impress/Fit Friday Challenge – get decked out, show off your style and look as sharp as you can for the camera
  2. 10 bonus points
    1. Submit a photo/video of each Challenge completion (can be one of the four above) on Instagram “tag” using “#KeyPursuits,” “like,” AND “follow” @keycommunities_csu
    2. Submit a screen shot that you have done ALL three (“tagged [#KeyPursuits],” “followed” and “liked” @keycommunities_csu) with your Challenge Completion on Instagram
  3. Team Name and Logo
    1. Submit your Cluster’s official Team Name and Upload your Team Logo

For Students

Key Pursuits “Fight for the Crown” Event: Hosted by Key Plus

It’s cluster versus cluster as you compete your way through 5 unique challenges.

Earn Pursuit Points!

  • First place: (100 Points for their Cluster)
  • Second Place: (75 Points for their Cluster)
  • Third Place: (50 Points for their Cluster)
  • Participating Clusters will automatically earn 25 Points for their Cluster

Date & Rules

  1. This is a team-based event, so gather your cluster-mates to form your team
  2. AHEAD OF TIME: Decide who can attend the event, pick your team name and pick 1 person to be your team leader
  3. DO NOT BE LATE.  Late participants will not be allowed to compete

Key Students (individual): Book an end-of-semester 1:1 with your Key Mentor  (5 points each)

Key Students & Mentors:

  1. Respond to the KeyMail this week  (5 points each)
  2. Virtual Talent Show! (5 points)
    1. Theme: “Feed Your Soul” – What you love to do, what gives you joy, what makes you happy
    2. Only 1 submission accepted per student or Mentor Earn 5 points!
    3. You can…
    • Submit an original art-piece capturing the theme
    • Submit a photograph capturing the theme
    • Submit a movie that you filmed, edited, or participated in
    • Submit a video or recording of you playing music
    • Share your spoken word/poetry/your creative writings
    • Share a photo or video of you engaging in one of your Skills/Talents (dancing, skateboarding, Parkour!, etc.)
    • Other – share your creativity, any activities you love to do, etc.
  1. How long is Key Pursuits?
    1. It runs from November 2nd to December 4th.
  2. Do I have to participate?
    1. No, Key Pursuits is strictly optional, but why not? Switch it up and bring some friendly competition back into your life for the sake of fun!
  3. How are points submitted?
    1. Whenever a student completes a task, they are responsible for documenting their proof (picture, video, excerpt). Students must click on “Submit Points” at the bottom of this page and follow the instructions
  4. How are points calculated?
    1. Key Mentors and Key Coordinators will be responsible for verifying submissions. Verified submissions will be transferred to an Excel Sheet to be input into a formula/equation to calculate point totals each week
  5. How will we know how many points our Cluster has?
    1. Points will be totaled by Friday 5pm each week. Every Monday, make sure to tune into our Instagram Account  @keycommunities_csu to find the Leaderboard Standings. You can also check out the Leaderboard Standings on our weekly KeyMails sent out to you by your Key Coordinator.
  6. What do we win?
    1. Top Prizes:
